Bird Watching / 1 Foot Hike @ Mr. Craig's Backyard
Oct 23 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

(Date is still tentative) We will work on some requirements for Backyard Jungle – identifying some birds that we can see in our backyard.  We will also will conduct a 1 foot hike.  Scouts should bring a magnifying glass if they have one.  If they have their own pair of inexpensive children’s binoculars, they are welcome to bring them as well if they would like.  They are not required though.

Our October pack meeting has a Halloween theme! We have many exciting Halloween activities planned and hope that you can join us! If possible, scouts and their youth guests should come in their Halloween costume!
 
Popcorn Orders Due
This is a reminder that all popcorn forms and money is due at our October pack meeting! Thank you for all your help and support so far! Those who helped at our show and sell events helped us raise $2,185.58. If you have any questions regarding popcorn, please email [email protected]
 
October Community Service
This month Pack 142 is supporting two very important causes. 
 
Used Halloween Costume Donation
Pack 142 is helping Family Promise & Deirdre’s House in Morristown to collect pre-loved Halloween costumes that are in good condition. Costumes that we collect will be donated to families in our community that are unable to provide their children with a Halloween costume.
 
Interfaith Food Pantry Thanksgiving Basket Program
Thank you for your donations to the Interfaith Food Pantry over the summer! Pack 142 donated 53 pounds of food to families in need. This month, we are helping the Interfaith Food Pantry with their annual Thanksgiving Basket program! They will be providing 1,600 Thanksgiving dinners to families in need and have asked if we can help them again. The list of needs that they have provided is as follows:
  • Turkey, turkey breast, ham or large chicken
  • Stuffing
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Turkey gravy
  • Yams – canned & fresh
  • Pasta – regular dry
  • Canned vegetables (low-salt if possible)
  • Regular and hearty soups (low-salt if possible)
  • Regular tea bags and coffee
  • Parmalat or powered milk, evaporated milk, and soy or almond
  • Apple, cranberry, orange, grape or any other 100% juice
  • Nuts, mini-marshmallows, pickles, or salad dressing
  • Brownie or cake mix and icing
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned pumpkin
Please bring any items that your family is able to donate to the October Pack meeting.
We will have a collection box available.

We are looking forward to welcoming some new families and visitors that are interested in finding out more about Pack 142 to our pack meeting! You are welcome to invite any friends and families with boys that are Cub Scout age (grades K-5). Please be sure to RSVP to let us know you are coming and how many guests to expect.
 
If one or more friends of your Cub Scout join our pack, your Cub Scout and all new friends that they recruit will receive a “My Best Friend is a Scout” patch. Your Cub Scout will also be presented with a “Recruiter” patch.

The Great Pumpkin’s Hidden Message
Fun for the entire family!
October 29 & 30, 2016
$4.00 per person
Check in at Camp Wheeler Office
Check in times Each day: 10:00AM, 11:30AM, 1:00PM and 2:30PM
Limited to the first 50 (paid) per check in time.
All registrations must be completed by phone first.

Registration payment must be received by council within 10 business days or phone registration will be invalid.
 
1. Groups will travel around camp. Organize groups prior to arrival. Groups of eight scouts and two adults would be great.
2. Travel groups should check in a the Camp Wheeler Office.
3. Travel packets will be distributed to each travel group leader.
4. Event will be held rain or shine. There will be no refunds for this program.
 
This is a council run event!
Please indicate your attendance on TroopTrack so that other Pack 142 families are able to identify who else will be going.
