Scout Ski Weekend

Join your fellow Scouts and Families for a day of skiing and/or snowboarding at Jack Frost in Blakeslee, PA on Sunday, March 11th from 8:00AM – 4:00PM. Jack Frost is just a few miles off of Route 80 Exit 284 in PA (434 Jack Frost Mountain Road, Blakeslee, PA).

This event has been organized by Dominique Forte on behalf of Pack 142, Pack 5 and Troop 173.
In addition to following the registration instructions below, please be sure to indicate your attendance on TroopTrack so that other Pack 142 members know who will be attending. All payments must be sent directly to Dominique Forte using the details below.

Jack Frost a great place to learn to ski and/or snowboard. If you hadn’t tried yet, consider joining us for a day on the slopes.

Details:

  • The cost per scout and family members is $37 per person which covers the cost of the lift ticket, a ski or snowboard rental (helmets are extra) and lesson.  The cost is $36 for those ages 7 – 17 that do not need to rent equipment and take a lesson.
  • There is an additional cost of $10 per person for helmet rentals.
  • For children 6 and under, who do not need a lesson, the lift ticket is $10 and ski or snowboard rental is $25.
  • There is NO additional costs to take a group lesson for anyone 8 years and older. Lessons are held at 10 AM and 2 PM and are included with the cost of the lift ticket.
  • Children ages 3 to 6 who need a lesson can attend the Snow Monster Full Day Ski Lesson; cost is $100 per child includes equipment.
    • This program allows children to experience the sport of skiing. The lesson is an indoor and outdoor fully-supervised lesson. The lesson includes games and activities to get children familiar with their skiing equipment and some basic skills. This group stays in our children's teaching area.
  • Lunch deal offers 2 slices of plain pizza and a small fountain beverage for $3.00 and is served at or about 12:00 PM or you can purchase food anytime during the day at the food court in the lodge.

Payment will be required by March 6th.
Checks need to made out to Dominique Forte and mailed to the address below. The money will be collected beforehand for payment that morning at Jack Frost. The cost per person is non-refundable.

Dominique Forte will be passing out the tickets at about 8:30 AM at the Jack Frost Rental Shop Desk in the Group Sales/Rental Equipment Building on Sunday, March 11. There is a drop off area at the Rental Shop Building if you are bringing equipment. If you plan on arriving after 9:30 AM, tickets will be at the Group Sales office under your name.

For those interested in participating in the Lunch Deal, lunch will be served at noon in a designated seating area in the lodge (to be announced).

Our Bear den will meet to build their own Toolbox as part of the Baloo the Builder Requirement! There is a small cost of $5 per person to help cover the cost of the materials for each den member.

Important – All scouts should bring a hammer as it will be needed to put the toolbox together!

Highlights include:
– Food Bag Activity/Community Service
For this month's community service we will be making brown bag lunches for the Bridges Outreach organization to donate directly to the homeless in Newark, Irvington, and Brooklyn.

The scouts will be decorating the brown bags and then filling them with the lunch items. It is our hope that the scouts will take ownership of this project and feel good from this giving experience.

We are look forward to welcoming some new families and visitors that are interested in finding out more about Pack 142 to all of our meetings. You are welcome to invite any friends and families with boys that are Cub Scout age (grades K-5). Please be sure to RSVP to let us know you are coming and how many guests to expect.
 
If one or more friends of your Cub Scout join our pack, your Cub Scout and all new friends that they recruit will receive a “My Best Friend is a Scout” patch. Your Cub Scout will also be presented with a “Recruiter” patch.

March Den Meeting @ Littleton School

Special guest, Steve Tizzoni will be sharing his passion for coin collecting with the boys to help them complete their Adventures in Coins elective. Please have your son bring a coin that they find interesting and would like to share its story.  No worries if its a common coin, as long as your son finds it interesting and can tell everyone why.  If Steve needs for the boys to bring anything else, I will send a follow-up email.
