Bear Den Meeting @ Littleton Gym
Nov 29 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

<<<Rescheduled from November 8th>>>>

In this meeting, we'll be starting the Beat of the Drum elective.  We'll have 2 main focuses for this meeting.  The first part of the meeting, we'll be learning about legends, what they are, how they originate, and what their purpose is.  The boys will be creating their own simple legend and will be developing a skit around the legend that they create (note: we'll be coming back to this skit for several den meetings after this, practicing to present it to the Pack,

The second part of the meeting, the boys will be learning how to make a paracord bracelet.  To help prepare you and your son for the meeting, I will follow up with a link for a Youtube video that demonstrates how to weave the paracord for the bracelet..

Please plan to be in the Camp parking lot by 11:30 AM on Saturday and we will return home on Sunday before lunch.

Overnight camping is included in the experience, but staying over is optional.

RSVP Instructions can be viewed by clicking here.

Please return the RSVP form and payment to Troop 173, BSA, Todd Waters, 179 Marcella Road, Parsippany 07054 by November 15, 2018.

Winnebago is less than 30 minutes from our neighborhood. When you use your mapping software or GPS, use the address 102 Timberbrook Road, Rockaway NJ 07866. One of our adult leaders will meet you upon arrival in camp. We will then walk about ½ mile to our cabin and serve you lunch.

Our facilities for this campout include cabins with electricity and wood-burning stove or gas hot air heat. Cots are provided, but you will need to bring a warm sleeping bag and/or blankets and a pillow. Heated restrooms are available at the Dining Hall which is nearby and where we will have our evening meal. Other information regarding camping equipment can be found in the Boy Scout Handbook.

You do NOT need to bring any cooking equipment or food, but you should bring eating utensils if you have them. (Scouts are strongly discouraged from bringing “junk” food, and handheld electronics (like Ipods) are not permitted.)

Cub Scouts should plan on wearing their uniforms for the evening dinner.

During the campout, the boys will have a chance to try out some Boy Scouting activities, enjoy some hearty Scout cooking (Saturday dinner will be Turkey cooked outdoors over the coals and served with all the trimmings) and have a lot of fun learning some skills as well. We might also do a hike so water bottles and hiking boots would be good idea. They can complete several rank requirements, besides the overnight camping experience.

Tiger Circles Duty to God @ Personal Time
Dec 1 @ 9:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Hello Scouts and Parents: For the Month of December the Scouts will work on the requirement "Tiger Circles Duty to God". We understand that religion is a very personal thing to each family. So, for the month of December the scouts will work with their parents on their personal time to accomplish the requirements. Once done, please have the scout draw or create an art project describing their experience. We will ask each child what they did during the January Den Meeting. Therefore, there will be NO Tiger meeting for the month of December.

Please review the scout book! Here are the requirements that are stated:

Complete requirement 1. and at least 2 others

1.Discuss with your parent, guardian, den leader, or other caring adult what it means to do your duty to God. Tell how you do your duty to God in your daily life.

2. With a family member, attend a religious service or other activity that show how your family expresses reverence for God.

3. Earn the religious emblem of your faith that is appropriate for your age or grade.

4. Help with a local service project and talk with your den or family about helping others is part of our duty to God.

5. With the approval of your parent, guardian, den leader, or other caring adult, think of and then carry out an act of kindness or respect that you think shows duty to God.

Please feel free to reach out to your den leaders, Helga, Nicole, and Michele if you have any questions.
