Tiger Den Meeting – hike @ Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge
May 3 @ 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Please join us for our Tiger Den animal-viewing hike!  We will be meeting at the Helen C Fenske Visitor Center at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, located at 32 Pleasant Plains Rd, Harding NJ.  We will be taking an approximate 2 mile hike, with lots of wildlife viewing opportunities include reptile, amphibians and birds.   This will allow the boys to complete their "Tigers in the Wild" Requirement.  

The pack will also be running a pack hike in April.  Scouts can meet their requirement by attending either of the hikes, but this hike will likely be easier/shorter than the pack hike (tailored to 1st graders) and will have more opportunities to see wildlife. 

Be sure to bring your 6 essentials for a hike:  small first aid kit, water bottle, flashlight, trail food, sun protection and whistle.

Please join Pack 142 at our Spring Campout!  

Event Location:  TBD
Dress Requirements: Pack T-Shirt and Camping Gear
Cost: ***TBD*** per participant (to assist the pack with costs for food and the campsite) – this is a non-refundable fee (please see note below)
 All Pack 142 families are invited to our Spring Camp Out!
Pack 142 will provide dinner, breakfast and some amazing fun! 

Activities include: 

Pack hike scheduled for 1:45pm

Pack sporting events:  soccer, whiffle ball and/or kick ball (after hike)

There is a great biking trail next to the camp site that attendees are welcome to use individually (but no pack bike ride)

We ask that families bring tents, sleeping bags and a side dish or dessert for dinner.

IMPORTANT: Food shopping and campsite registration is based on the number of families that have registered for the event as at 12:00PM Tuesday, May 28, 2019. If you RSVP but do not attend, you will still be responsible for full payment. Similarly, if you do not RSVP, we may not be able to accommodate with necessary food and spacing.  Pack 142 is a not-for-profit pack and cannot be responsible for wasted food or unnecessary payments to the campground. We appreciate your understanding. If you have any question or need to discuss a specific circumstance, please call Steve at 570-212-2036.

May Pack Meeting @ Littleton School

Highlights include:

-Visit from several emergency services departments (fire, police, ambulance,etc)

We are look forward to welcoming some new families and visitors that are interested in finding out more about Pack 142 to all of our meetings. You are welcome to invite any friends and families with boys that are Cub Scout age (grades K-5). Please be sure to RSVP to let us know you are coming and how many guests to expect.

If one or more friends of your Cub Scout join our pack, your Cub Scout and all new friends that they recruit will receive a “My Best Friend is a Scout” patch. Your Cub Scout will also be presented with a “Recruiter” patch.

Tiger Den Meeting @ Loantaka Reservation

Please join us for our Tiger Den Bike Ride!   Rescheduled to October 27th!

Event Time: 1:00PM – 3:00PM
Event Location: Loantaka Brook Reservation, 468 South St, Morristown, NJ 07962
Dress Requirements: Pack T-Shirt

We will meet near the pavilion on the South St. parking lot for Loantaka Reservation at 1pm.  We will go over proper bike safety, and then embark on an approximately 2-5 mile bike ride (that we can adjust depending on progress).  Tiger scouts will earn their Rolling Tigers bike riding elective and we ask that each scout attending comes with a parent on bike as well.  (Bikes are available to rent).  

Please note that each tiger scout needs to complete 1 elective to earn their Tiger rank; many of the boys earned their Night Sky viewing at our den meeting last fall but, if not, this is an opportunity to get your 1st or 2nd elective in!




Memorial Day Parade @ N Beverwyck Ave Parsippany

Hi all – For those participating in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, I just wanted to clarify a few things:  

– Check in time will start at 11am, at ___________

– Once you check in, you will be directed to the correct location to meet up with the rest of Pack 142.  

– The parade starts at noon, so definitely want to be at check-in by 11:30am to give you time to join us before we begin walking.  

– Finally, please note that we can't throw candy this year; we have to hand it out.  Please bring your own candy if you wish to do so.

Please join Pack 142 as we march in the 2020 Parsippany Memorial Day Parade!

Event Location: Parade starts at 12 noon – Please see below details..
Dress Requirements: Full Scout uniform

Scouts will march in full uniform in honor of those men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

  • Please arrive at the check in point located at __________  by 11:00AM
  • Once checked in, please proceed to the parade staging area __________. Township staff will be present to direct to you to the correct location.
  • Pack 142 will depart Katherine Drive and enter the main parade route along North Beverwyck Road
  • The Parade will continue along North Beverwyck Road to the reviewing stand located approximately at the intersection of Claudine Terrace.

Pack 142 will distribute candy along the path. We would appreciate it if you could provide your child with a bag of candy to distribute to others along the way.  Please note we are NOT allowed to throw candy this year; we have to hand it out.
