Please join Pack 142 at our Fall Bike Ride!   Rescheduled to October 27th!

Event Date: Sunday October 27, 2019

Pack 142 invites all pack members and interested guests join us at our Fall Bike Ride. Don't worry if you or your child can't ride a bike! You are welcome to roller blade, scooter or even walk! There is plenty of room to kick a ball around and the kids can enjoy some time on the playground. This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy Fall in NJ!
We will meet near the pavilion on the South St. parking lot for Loantaka Reservation at 1pm.  We will go over proper bike safety, and then embark on an approximately 5 mile bike ride (that we can adjust depending on progress).  Tiger scouts who attend will be able to earn their Rolling Tigers bike riding elective.  All kids may not be able to go at the same pace, so we will need some parents to join us to help keep all our scouts safe and having a good time. Feel free to go at your own pace, as long as each scout has a parent or caring adult with them.  Please let us know if you have any questions and feel free to call us at 570-212-2036 should you need any assistance.   See you there!

We invite all pack members and interested guests to attend our fall hike!  The hike will be approximately 3 miles
We will meet at the trailhead at the address shown above.  I'll send out any additional helpful directions closer to the event.  The location is known for being a great place to observe hawks at lookout we will hike too, so definitely bring binoculars if you would like.  More information on the location can be found HERE

Scouts that are working towards their hiking requirement should bring a backpack with the Cub Scout Six Essentials for Hiking.
  1. First Aid Kit – A kit should include a few adhesive bandages, some moleskin (a sticky bandage that you can put over a blister to keep it from getting worse or rubbing), and a bandage or two.
  2. Filled water bottle Make sure it is big enough to carry water for you to drink through your whole hike and back. And make sure it is full when you start out! It is not safe to drink water you find along the trail.
  3. Flashlight Check your batteries to make sure they have plenty of juice. Your flashlight will be used only in an emergency, so save the batteries for times when you really need them!
  4. Trail food Trail mix or a granola bar provide quick energy when you need it.
  5. Sun Protection Sunscreen should be SPF 30 or greater. A hat is good to have, too!
